Pre + tension = Pretension Self explanatory! There are two ways of pretending. One to make a living, another to block living. Making a living -- An actor on stage has to pretend to portray the character on stage or screen. The mind is involved but its not caught with the character. Its a mask worn to earn his living, yes he gets well paid if he plays the role very well. There is a pre tension in this too but gets dissolved with the character. There are no impressions or residue left in the realm of the mind, no matter its joy or sorrow. The entire concept works on the surface. Infact he would be looked at differently only if he carries on the same character in real life too. Knowing its a play, wears the mask, plays it well and gets rewarded very well too! Come Christmas, miss the cake --never, the intellect too doesnt want to miss. Here is the contemplations of the intellect on the cake. Preparation of a cake is a lengthy process indeed. Starting from selecting the quality ingredients, the process involves sieving, blending, mixing and finally baking! the mind with all the informations as input first has to sieve the thoughts, blend them well--fixed to flowing, mix as triggers, then bake as contemplations and bringforth the cake --The wisdom! Hold on...not enough, whats the use of the cake if we dont taste it, so apply the wisdom and thats eating it. Every step here is done with utmost care. Going back to the school days --memorable ones indeed with friends, fun and freedom except studies. Education system at times unknowingly instigates competitiveness and complex in the minds of the student. Scoring the highest marks and standing first is the ultimate expected from any student both from school and family. Worst is assessing the student from "On the spot" competitions. Then grading them as dull, good and intelligent. As students, they may accept their individual capacity and dont let their marks influence the interpersonal relationship as friends. But as they grow up, invariably you will find the influence of the mind playing havoc with the interpersonal relationships. You can come across in the working places, where each one has to express their talents and ability to bring out the best performance. Raining cats and dogs outside, not a sign of even a drizzle or chill of the wind - wondered where? Thats in the enClosure of a posh office. Very true! Life goes on as any other day, just some changes to protect oneself from the chill and shiver, may be a raincoat or an umbrella is the additional attire or an accessory to act as a protective shield. Once stepping into the enclosure, the shield is removed to get into the normal stream. Shield is to wield the danger and not to be worn forever. This reminds me the importance of using a shield at the right time and also knowing to drop it and keep it safe too. Also, the rain can touch only the surface of the shield and not the inside. So is it with life too if the right shield is used. In the inner zone of oneself, there is no need of any shield just like moving around in an office space but while stepping into a hard weather, its a must to use the shield. Again, Mother nature silently speaks in her expressions of a tormenting rain.

Watching two elderly persons exchange their views on keeping up pace with the usage of latest equipments like "mobile phones", the topic on learning opened up. One happens to be a man of fixed concepts and the other, a lady practising meditation. Its two minds of different soil. The man said, " all along we have learnt so much and now its enough and there is no need to learn and stop learning". The lady replied, " True. we have been learning so much but then now its time for unlearning and thats what the saints say, "emptying". I wonder if that seed ever entered into the soil of concepts. Unlearning, stop learning -- world of difference! lets take the example of weaving in comparison to learning. The original thread gets the shape according to the pattern desired by the one who weaves. A definite shape is attained and a name given to it. No longer its just referred to as rope but a basket, vase etc. The knots all along the rope gets fixed to that shap

When it is in the fluid state, it flows, ever so fresh reaching as many, The Water! When it freezes, thats the end of it. Freezing resembles fixations in life, better said as concepts. Formation of ice particles have been taking place from our birth, thanks to all the contributors-- family, society etc. Over a period it becomes a solid block of ice arresting the flow and reflecting only from the standpoint of ice, the concepts. It does take a solid step to break the ice and let the water flow. Frozen is heavy, stagnant and secured --the best comfort zone. Flowing is light, ever changing, fresh and adventurous. Meditation is the process to dissolve the ice and and let the lightness and freshness of the mind flow forever. Learning the ways to break and dissolve the ice is just not sufficient. One has to apply the technique to let the process happen. Then watch that gushing of water from deep within!

Moments of solitude takes one to their own special chairs or corners most loved. one such is the swing in my balcony. While bathing in the everlasting energizer--The Sun, i notice this beloved creation, chameleon sitting at a comfortable distance on the mango tree. Its an instant observation of seeing it as it is unlike commenting, so creepy it looks etc. Letting the precious moment flow unfolds the message from this "Zen Master". Usually i like to communicate with them by trying to get their attention by making sounds. Wow! this one just didnt respond to the call and just told me silently, "hey, you, cant you just shut up and just be. I am with myself and so be you". Wonderful! In that being silently with myself yet watching it revealed the inborn quality of chameleon -- changing the colour to suit the environment. Yet another message sent,"Be a Roman in Rome". Lessons on adaptability! Retaining its form(essence) yet adapting to the ever changing thing

The more one empties oneself the greater they are useful and responsible. The role of a lady in a family as a wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law etc purely depends on the selflessness of that individual. The smaller,'i' replaced by the big 'I'. Its the same pot used for various purpose simply because of its own purposelessness , so is our life. Its that emptiness which insights the purposelessness of an individual yet remains useful to others. Untouched by the usefulness, it still remains as an empty pot.

Cleansing and purifying one's own mind is as much essential as connecting to the source of the object beyond the interference of the body and mind of the object. "Crystal clear" vision is ofcourse the ultimate benediction. Anything with a beginning cant last forever and so naturally cant have a hold on the everlasting eternity. Impermanent cant offer stability but yes permanent is the best platform to deal with the impermanent changes seen and presented to us in our day to day living. The greater the rooting, better the stability.

Watching the slide show of great paintings on the sky, was wondering, how it would be if the sky decides to choose the best of the paintings and freeze it as its screen saver! instead it has just let the myriad shades move and blend as they wish, thereby never getting trapped into the "Monotony". Thats why its so fresh and lively. With no fixations, no perfections, its bound to be always The Best! Monotony -- can also create problems for adaptability and acceptability. Lets say someone who is used to a certain pattern of working at certain time intervals can go haywire if even a slight change is made.
