~Contentment~
With a non-ending known and unknown list of wishes to be fulfilled, it is indeed rare to find the contentment in one's own self and in others too. World of competition, choices, ever craving mind's action, indeed it can become a task to experience contentment.
The mind is known for its selective choosing and finding a niche in that comfort zone, even if it is meant like associating with pain and discomfort. When we observe closely, we discover that it is not the status or the wealth that decides the experience of fulfillment. It is the mind that is associated with the person that plays the decision making - either to choose cribbing even with the best of everything or to just be filled with contentment even with nothing.
Basic need is indeed a must for everyone(food, clothing, shelter) and no one can ever draw a conclusion on the basic for it differs from one to one. so is it when it comes to experiencing this wonder of contentment. Infact, the requirement is much much less almost nothing at all.
Contented ever, the nature spreads its wings and keeps flying high. So is it with The Realized Beings! But, lot more to experience in our journey with people and our own self. One such incident is what i would like to share here.
When i stopped near the signal, the beggar with polio affected legs sitting in the hot sun, stretched his arms for alms. As i didn't have the change to give him, told him, i dont have change.Instantly, he smiled and said, it is okay.Just one moment, that brightened his face was a clear sign of inner contentment atleast for that moment.
A distorted body, begging for living, ever dependant on others may be is just a slice of the description that could be given for who knows what his life is. But, yes, this man surely knows the taste of contentment, else, it is impossible to see that glow that just overwhelmed me immensely.I watched him for couple of minutes and could feel that sense of contentment. There was no restlessness and he was just natural. My smile inturn was a silent thankyou to that moment of fulfillment.
While sharing this experience, someone pointed out that the pleasant way in which i would have probably said, could have brought that pleasantness from him too. True, it is possible. I was just natural but to reflect such contenetment in such a state and circumstance is no ordinary thing to ignore. These are the moments that bestow immense lessons on experiencing life's fulfillment.
The seeds of the Divine are plenty and abundant. Are we ready with our soil of awareness to let the tree of contentment grow and glow? Lets not define and limit the fulfillment to some people, incidents, wealth etc. lets us break free into the unlimited to experience the blesed unlimitedness too!

There is nothing else like experiencing someone elses personal truth, especially when we are living in a world where many people have their eyes closed.
Wonderful post here, and your last paragraph says it all!
"The seeds of the Divine are plenty and abundant. Are we ready with our soil of awareness to let the tree of contentment grow and glow? Lets not define and limit the fulfillment to some people, incidents, wealth etc. lets us break free into the unlimited to experience the blessed unlimitedness too!"
Yes, and let's be content with all of life's many blessings, especially those that are immaterial and perhaps a bit more difficult to recognize. Such as our potential for creativity and joy, our five senses and our intellect, the complex web of life around us. Love and compassion....
Perhaps the quality of your voice or manner in some way appeased the beggar. And perhaps, because he is not jaded by having too much, he is immensely grateful for any sign of kindness and compassion, or by having "just enough to get by."
thankyou for your wonderful comments.
Hugs, JJ
Oh,wow! thankyou for your smile here...
