~ The Blackboard ~

The official learning in human life begins with the entry into school even though, the child is exposed to various factors of known learning at home and unknown learning at various incidents.

The blackboard is the major tool used for teaching. Written, erased and retained to explain the various aspects of learning is what we come across with the blackboard. But, before beginning to use the board for any other purpose, you would have noticed that the date and the day are the first most written or corrected. The teacher ensures the day and date are written correctly and then proceeds with the new lesson or continues with the previous class.

When we relate this with our life, it tends to teach the basic of learning, to remain in the present, here and now. Mind used as a vital tool for learning as the blackboard needs to be brought to the present moment and ensure the date and day are written as here and now and then the learning begins or continues. The next step followed as in the blackboard with the mind is to know what to write, what to erase and what to retain. Sometimes, the teacher leaves the class room instructing that the written notes on the board to be retained for the next class. This ensures that the previous written context is essential for the continuity of the next class. we do come across the same with our life too especially in subjects of connectivity to our own self. But, mostly, as we see in the class room, there are plenty of topics that needs to be erased and cleared and and the space made available for the next lesson. No doubt whatever written for that moment was indeed essential for learning but even more is essential to ensure to bring back the blackboard available for the next. Else, over writing can only cause confusion because neither the previous nor the present is not going to be clear.

Lessons learnt from various writings as incidents are essential and also equally essential to ensure that the space in the mind is kept free (cleared) and made available for the teachings to follow. The essence of the writing as explanation on the board gets impregnated in the mind, it is only the gross writing that needs to be erased. Incidents, emotions, both good and bad are all written words on the board. Essence of the teaching is what needs to be impregnated and the gross incident needs to be cleared and kept ready for the next availability. Over writing is the most watchful one to be taken care.

Connecting to one's own self enables to make use of this blackboard called mind in a proper way. It lets us to be a teacher and the student. while handling the board(mind), we act as the teacher and while grasping the lesson written from the words(incidents), we act as a student.

Let us ensure to keep the day and date(here and now) updated and make the best use of the board(mind).

Ray, rather it is the other way around. We tend to view things differently and relate to them better when changes happen within.

Hi Merging Point!
You are so wise. You wrote: 'The next step followed as in the blackboard with the mind is to know what to write, what to erase and what to retain.' - oh my I do that all the time. Whatever I think I don't need I don't even try to remember, just go through my brain, lol. My husband always tells me don't you remember this, and I say - it wasn't important to remember. Thanks for sharing your blackboard thoughts. Very brilliant! Anna :)

You have presented this lesson in a unique and memorable way! I love your observation of the chalk board in the classroom and how you used it as analogy to how we are to stay in the "now". Thank-you for your wisdom.

Merging Point, you make a good case here for a clear and focused use of the mind. PRESENCE of mind....

We can depend on you to come up with complex and interesting metaphors that ring with truth!

Some people evolve to visualize the notion of a clean slate. They may even evolve to live it. This is part of a mental exercise where ingrained conditioning is gradually erased from blackboards in the mind.

may be initially, it is required, but eventually one must learn the art of not getting it ingrained so that there is no need to go through the exercise of clearing too.
