~ Tool Kit ~

A sculptor or a carpenter is trained in his skills to make the best use of the tools available to create the product. Same tools eventhough available, if a person is not trained and then ventures to meddle with them can end up in dangerous or destructive act. So, its not the tool that needs to be thrown but if someone wants to be a carpentor then he has to learn to handle the tool. To be a carpenter and then say, i dont need the tools is just ignorance.

Ego reminds me of that tool kit that has so many variety of tools in it. Skilled, that is connected then it becomes the useful tool. The carpenter opens the toolkit and takes the one which is needed for the work. When it is not needed he just puts it back in the kit. So is it with our life.

Firstly, know the tools in the kit very well like humble, loving, angry etc. Then, we need to get trained. That is learning to connect the ego to the consciousness. Then put them to use, that is applying. Then keep them back in its kit.

A log of wood given to a skilled carpenter can turn out to be a wonderful chair. Same in the hands of untrained, unconnected individual, i leave it your imagination.
May be its not correct to say GO to ego but learn to connect it to the source.

When connected, the same person may express anger but will not be angry. That is the proper use of the tool. The chisel is used to chip the unwanted in the statue but not to damage it. The sculptor knows the way to use the chisel and bring forth the beautiful statue. To say, chisel is a dangerous instrument and never use it is ignorance. That means, you are limiting the creativity.

In this world of action, dynamism outside in the world makes use of the proper tough tools. While moving within, involves subtle tools too. Without the ego, who is there to have the realization? We just learn to balance to make use of the different tools as we interact in the world outside and within too.

The ego is a tool as much as is the mind, the senses and the body,....tools gross and subtle to taste the Divine.. complete tool kit!

ego is a part of the larger expansion called mind. Gross and subtle tools to know the Self indeed.
Nice connectivity of words, images and ideas!

We each have different tools that seem appropriate at different times. Life experience teaches us to value and listen to our own intuition.

Great post, merging point. The ego, when channelled, is the source of our motivations. When not channeled, it can run amuck and become the source of inappropriate deeds and misery. Mature self-awareness dictates that we know how much to let our egoes compel our actions or influence our feelings and reactions!

Yes Liara. The tools which are very much within us need to be identified and applied well. yes, life experiences and intuition are great indicators for guidance.

Nice blog merging point.
Merging Point, thank you for discussing ego in this beautiful post. I have become aware of how an ego controls a person and how it controls a person from knowing his true self. It's all so interesting!!!

Very interesting...your words make perfect sense to me!

especially this line:

"May be its not correct to say GO to ego but learn to connect it to the source"

I like how you write..a lot of wisdom here but written in a way that a simple soul like myself can grasp the meaning. :)

Beautiful words and beautiful spirit here..I'll be back.
