~ Open House ~

House is made of bricks
Home is made of heart

To make a home as a house or a house as a home surely depends on all the members. But to have one's own inside as a home, its just one's own self. Connected it remains as a home, disconnected its just a house.

Every parent at some stage --school or college would have to attend this "open House" to get the assessment report of their kid. Generally, it is seen as a day of judgement for the child. But its a wonderful opportunity for the parent to expose oneself to experience the joy of being with the innocence of the children(school or college - yet to get trapped into adulthood). A parent occasionally gets opportunity to be and express his innocence. Sometimes, one tends to get delayed waiting in the queue to meet the respective teacher. Grab the opportunity -- instead of cribbing about the delay, no this and that...watch the students, parents.. and simultaneously watch your own self.. oh! its a great joy and learning too. Recently had one such opportunity and believe me, we had a wonderful time! The teenagers --mixture of naughty, vibrant and the quiet, reserved, stressed ones --can one afford to miss to experience one's own self? no way. Just 2-3 hours just went past like being in a meditation workshop. Never to get carried away by the outside happening but just making use of it to know one's own self. Attimes being a teenager expressing the innocence, attimes being a parent relieving the stressed ones(they were suppose to meet the toughest teacher). So its not just for the student --"Open House" but how well a parent can open up to the House available. Afterall, one becomes a parent only after having been a child. Now, its a wonderful opportunity to relive as a child in a matured way.
"Open House is also to know one's own Home". Rooted inside, anywhere its home!

Beautiful post!!! I looove your "Open House" concept. :D When at college I was asked to be an Open House speaker. Thanks for jogging my memory of that awesome time. :D I remember the parents and students hanging on to every word I said because this was a new beginning. I hope I set their hearts at ease. I did see several nods and smiles and was spoken with after.
