"Observe not the people around you, but the thoughts within you"
- Living Master Akshara.

People followed by situations come into our lives only to indicate the presence of certain corners (Dark & Bright)hidden deep within and let us learn to be aware of the Real Self in the absence of such thoughts. Thats why instead of getting caught in the trap of the Human being that acts as a pointer to look within ourselves, its important to make use of that pointer to turn within. Ofcourse, not an easy job but yet its worth the effort. In a way, they help us to unravel our own self. A kind of unpleasant help in the case of discovering the dark corners via a disturbed and yet to realize being. Unless exposed to such people and situations, how are we to experience the unknown? Similarly, some people and situations can help us to rediscover our hidden talents too. Realized beings are the ultimate source to know both our positive and negative sides and they help us to outgrow both to reach the ultimate--The real You!
Once we understand all that happens outside is only to make us realize our own true Self, then how do we go about watching it? Thats observing the thoughts within. Lets say, when someone plays a dirty game and breaks your trust, normally, one would be disgusted with that relationship and breaks within(nervous break down) even before breaking up the relationship. This is purely reacting to the person and the situation. One who knows to observe the thought, does not react by collapsing or hurting the other one but simply responds to the person and situation by taking a firm and clear decision. There is no more nagging headaches, heart breaks lingering forever. But to experience this, one has to remain in one's own depth of silence. There is a clear understanding that its done out of ignorance but at the same time doesnot let oneself to be taken for granted by others. Hence its important to make use of the presence of other people in our lives to know our True Self and not get trapped and trampled by their ignorance. The only way, as Living Master. Akshara says observing the thoughts within. Lesser the thoughts closer to The Self! Meditation helps us to learn this wonderful art --observing the thoughts within. Human beings are only to discover our own Being!

Merging Point you wrote: 'Realized beings are the ultimate source to know both our positive and negative sides and they help us to outgrow both to reach the ultimate--The real You!'

and you wrote: 'One who knows to observe the thought, does not react by collapsing or hurting the other one but simply responds to the person and situation by taking a firm and clear decision.'

Thank for reinforcing these in me - two important points you brought up for me to remember. I often find myself analyzing and exploring my negative side, and sometimes I fight with myself to over come them - a bit of reinforcement from you helps. But you are right, knowing the negative and positive will help us to reach the ultimate.

Thank you so much for sharing, Anna :)

Great advice, merging point. I think it's very important for each of us to be able to empty of our need when communicating, so our own need doesn't stip away our ability to give an appropriate response to someone else's need. Also important: to not react/overreact to someone else's communication and to consider the source. We must remember that people act out of THEIR own need!

Have you read Krishnamurti? He's a guru I have read and learned from...

Thanks for the thoughtful post!

Morethan emptying kind Lynda, rather be watchful with our need not interfering in responding to the person or situation. For this its important to have an inner connectivity.
Yes,but not any book as such by J.Krishnamurthy.
I have returned to this post. It is sooo important to understand this or you can't move forward on your journey in life.

I have to share this with my family.
