~ Unlearn / Stop learning ~
Watching two elderly persons exchange their views on keeping up pace with the usage of latest equipments like "mobile phones", the topic on learning opened up. One happens to be a man of fixed concepts and the other, a lady practising meditation. Its two minds of different soil. The man said, " all along we have learnt so much and now its enough and there is no need to learn and stop learning". The lady replied, " True. we have been learning so much but then now its time for unlearning and thats what the saints say, "emptying". I wonder if that seed ever entered into the soil of concepts.
Unlearning, stop learning -- world of difference! lets take the example of weaving in comparison to learning. The original thread gets the shape according to the pattern desired by the one who weaves. A definite shape is attained and a name given to it. No longer its just referred to as rope but a basket, vase etc. The knots all along the rope gets fixed to that shape. Now, stop learning is like leaving it at whatever shape it is in. Unlearning is just undoing the knots and coming back to the original state. Simply back to the source. The hurdles and happiness in one's life is to know the way, the pattern. Coming back to the source is knowing the origin and the usefulness of the thread and yet remain as a thread. Whenever needed, its emptiness, the original state lets itself to become the basket or vase but never gets entangled or engraved in that shape. Its availability to remain in the original state lets it become a support for the shape. The peak of learning is the turn of unlearning. Birth is learning, Death is stop learning. Unlearning is beyond the Birth and the Death.

in my understanding of unlearning, its not distinguishing about good or bad, but knowing both and yet remain unaffected by both.
