~ Emptiness ~

Clay walls are moulded into a pot,
but the usefulness of the pot lies in its emptiness
The 30 spokes of a wheel all join at the centre.
The usefulness of the wheel lies in the emptiness of its hub.
-Lao Tzu
What betterway to insight emptiness! Empty the desires only to be filled by the Divine will.Desire chokes one while Divine will lightens the usefulness.
Emptiness of oneself, otherwise called as selfishlessness. The more one empties oneself the greater they are useful and responsible. The role of a lady in a family as a wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law etc purely depends on the selflessness of that individual. The smaller,'i' replaced by the big 'I'. Its the same pot used for various purpose simply because of its own purposelessness , so is our life. Its that emptiness which insights the purposelessness of an individual yet remains useful to others. Untouched by the usefulness, it still remains as an empty pot.

Such an interesting insight and words. I have long been aware of the importance of emptying myself of need, and to operate instead from a position of personal power, instead of need. Not power OVER others, but the power to master myself!

We could all have a more meaningful give and take if we could empty... but this takes mindfulness!

Thanks for sharing!
